Happy belated Halloween!
Halloween Gypsy

I was a gypsy! Made from an odd assortment of old clothes...
Boo was Emo, he got really into it! See below...

:P

& I couldn't recover the deleted haircut photos without coughing up $20 to ApplexSoft, so forget that! These'll have to do!
PEACE!

Ok, seriously, who with a Mac does NOT have this pic? lol

*Ok, so remember about two months ago when I said I'd get back to you tomorrow? Well, yea, let's start from there...*

What I wanted to write about was Katherine (formerly known as Smeagol) coming to visit for the first time in about FOUR YEARS!

So, as you can guesstimate, it was a long anticipated event that went by way too quickly! :'(

She came down for a ceremony her father had to participate in and she only stayed for a couple days, visited me for one. T_T

It was kind of awkward at first, but we ended up laughing it off nervously and trying to catch up with eachother's past near-half-decade. Then the conversation turned to Jrock and we migrated to my Fool's Mate magazines, and there we were brought to eachother's present fixations. :) we both really want to start a band, which will likely be difficultly done interstate, but new, for sure! We ended up going to dinner at a favorite local sushi restaurant and talking about each other's progress in the Japanese language (which was pretty comical; she says it's worse for her, though, because she's asian, so when she tries to speak her super-american-japanese all her listeners think she's a twinkie xP). After that, the adventure really began, when I had to drive her to the relatives with whom she was staying- on a military base- where all GPS locating and mapping is blocked - which includes MapQuest, the way we had planned to find our way back! D8 So, we didn't realize this fact (though it seems pretty obvious in hindsight :P) until we were already on the base, in pitch black, 9:30pm dark. I kept asking, "Does this look familiar?" But nothing did, except for the hanger that we drove by from different angles about four times. XP

After about forty minutes, her mom called asking where we were. Embarrassing answer, "Eeeh, somewhere close, I think..?" We finally got her cousin to drive out to another building we had driven by enough times to know where IT was, and then we said our goodbyes and おやすみなさい's and parted ways (after, of course, her cousin had given me directions out of that abyssmal labyrinth).

And that was that.
Good luck in college, Kat!
頑張っておください!!

*The following post is utter nonsense. The product of me writing after 10pm, with nothing on my stomach but candy corn and chai tea, and with way too much information to convey. Apologies. And, should you begin to wonder, should you dare to read on, the random lines followed by a time and date are indeed tweets that have been randomly inserted where I deliriously saw fit. Consider yourself warned & have fun!*

Sorry about that again. I had some pretty serious virus problems that resulted in me getting a new laptop (yay!). My old one, Sleighbell, finally passed away on Thursday, losing almost complete function to the Virut virus, having to be formatted+reinstalled and traded with my father for a brand new MacBook Pro (I know, I’m an ex-PC traitor), may her bitchy soul rest in peace.

And so begins the reign of Sleighbell the Bitchtastic the Second! :D

Dead Sleighbell the First

To other more mentionable passings that have occurred since my absence, rest in peace, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Jasmine You, and Patrick Swayze. :’(

School started up again 3 weeks or so ago on Monday. :(
And it appears my computer is not as fixed as I thought. :(
WHAT IS WITH ALL THESE TECHNICAL BUGS!? D:<

o.o Bad season, eh?

SO, WHAT YOU BEEN UP TO?

WELL! It all started with my cousins coming over. I went back and forth to the beach to visit them and didn’t spend much time online except to wrap-up on some coursework.. Then, the day before they left (to see my grandpa) we had a power surge at my house that took my PC and Modem down. I waited for a few days to get my dad’s permission to use my school card for repairs (in which I took a BAJILLION photos of my cat and went on an absolute cleaning frenzy where I found an old note from my highschool freshman year stalker that still creeps me out and makes me sad simultaneously), and then went and got that fixed (a $130 for a $20 piece!? Pfft. Don’t use CompUSA, you’ve been warned). Then my dad took me to see ‘Public Enemies’ which sucked more than that power surge…

SO, after being all excited about having my computer working and networking my internet again, I gleefully turned on my Toshiba laptop (aka Sleighbell the Bitchtastic ☺) only to find that in the week of visiting of my cousins my Kaspersky had expired and I had a lovely virus rear its ugly head in my face. >:(

After tinkering with it for a while, I discovered it wasn’t just your typical Trojan (and by “tinkering” I mean dropping into DOS and weeding through files for about an hour and then rebooting into safe mode about 50 times, each time thinking I finally got it, but to no avail) but actually the ViRut virus. Fun, fun. So, I immediately went into denial and decided to go spend my four-year-old movie theater gift cards. :P

So, out to see ‘Transformers 2’ with Jen, and then to ‘My Sister’s Keeper’ with grandma and Angela (now back from grandpa’s), which was the most surreal experience ever; my grandmother, Angela, and I were the only ones in the theater NOT crying… made me feel like part of some sort of stoic scrooge gene pool, especially considering the full grown man next to me who couldn’t go a full minute without cleaning his lenses from tear-steam. :(

Then, after another day of driving myself nearly insane again with my ‘I-CAN-FIX-IT-MYSELF!’ mentality, my mom gave me two tickets to the early screening of ‘500 Days of Summer’, so I called Jen and off we went but an hour later than we should have (arrive an hour AND 40 minutes early!? Riiight. Uh, no), so we ended up watching ‘The Hangover’ instead. lolz

Sometime in between here and there I discovered via twitter (my only internet source was my iPhone ;( ) that if you type “Find Chuck Norris” in google and click the ‘I’m feeling lucky’ button, something magical happens. :D

Then it was final exam time, and spent the next few days studying up for those and then actually doing them, and they all turned out pretty well! :D For that, I celebrated by finally watching ‘SuperBad’ which was hilarious and need to *Mental Note* BUY IT, RACHEL!

AND I SAW THE ALICE IN WONDERLAND trailer when it leaked on twitter, and am so excited!

Other tweets I don’t really feel like rephrasing…

AND THEN KATHERINE CAME TO VISIT! :D
...but I'll post more about that tomorrow, since I'm already rambling nonsensically....

And then I chopped off all my hair in front and gave meeself bangs! Wee! You know how all those women’s magazines say if you wait too long for a hair cut you’re bound to do something drastic? Well, they’re right. ;P

********IMAGES accidently deleted, will replace soon!*********

Then I went out to see Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea with my sister and Alexis before they headed off for their freshman year of college. Our sushi dinner ended up running late, though, so we had to see ‘District 9’ instead, which was totally not what I was expecting but very VERY good and worth seeing. :D

The next day, my mother and I drove Randi up to UF to stock up her dorm in prep for the final farewell. We met her twin Croatian roommates before eating at Chili’s and settling down in a hotel, where I stayed up watching –I think- the third Matrix movie on mute, which seemed okay in that format (I’ve heard otherwise about the full version :P) while my mom slept.

We went home, I plead with my dad for a new laptop before school started, and he caved, then I caved into getting a ‘virus-free’ Mac, so against my PC ways. BUT! Now I can finally post this, so it was all worth it in the end! :)
boo,jealous,laptop

Boo is jealous :P

Then I saw ‘The Ramen Girl’ (cute, but not spectacular), ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’ (Impressive! :D), and ‘Repo! The Genetic Opera’ (Not so impressive, except for the parts with Sarah Brightman, and… for some reason… Paris Hilton :S)

Photobucket

Something I didn’t know about Repo! Until the credits

After that, I discovered that my dad had started writing his memoir (:wtf:) …

Got some sparkly converse for myself…

And a bag of chocolates + $50 from Grandma and George for driving them to the airport. :)

Got my kanji learning wall poster!

… and then it was Linda’s bday. So, my dad and I went to pick up roses for her at this little shop run by a husband and wife (with their son doing flower arrangement deliveries) and as we were walking out the door with Linda’s new bouquet, the woman handed me a light purple rose for free because it matched my makeup and the lettering on my shirt (*^_^*) She was so sweet! And off we went to take Linda out for lunch.

16th-Jun-2009 03:36 pm - i FEEL! o.o
darkewe
So, three hundred and forty five days after my wisdom teeth extraction, the right side of my tongue has finally begun to FEEL again. I'm actually very excited about this, so much so that I had to immediately try something, which turned out to be a banana; and to my delight, when chewed on the right side of my mouth, I COULD TASTE BANANA. Not just sweetness, which was the only flavor previously capable of perception by that side over the past almost-year. No salty, no sour, no spicy. Just a very plain, sort of melted sugar sweet with no form, as my tongue was completely numb on that side :(

BUT NOW! I CAN TASTE BANANA FLAVOR, and who knows what else!

It all started yesterday when the right side of my tongue started to suddenly feel itchy. An hour later, it felt like someone was pinching it. Then today, as I was driving home from my chemistry midterm, I felt this weird pulsing sensation in my tongue and then all of sudden realized I could feel the roof of my mouth on that side. Granted, beneath the tongue still feels as though someone is pinching it, the top feels almost normal. :)
I forgot how much I missed my tongue! :P
I had actually reached the point of resigning to this complete loss of sensation, because I had signed a contract stating that I was aware that 'in under 1% of the cases of wisdom teeth removal operation, numbness and loss of sensation can be permanent.' So, I couldn't sue for medical malpractice or anything (my dad actually tried anyway), as I was informed of the risk.

In short, I'm happy to have the top of the right half of my tongue back.

13th-Jun-2009 02:44 pm - A Series Of Tiny Adventures
darkewe

This past Wednesday, I finally decided to revive my old blog, ‘The College Quest’, a pretty self-explanatory title. I neglected it in the chaos of being accepted to Columbia University’s high school program, and left it as such with plans to revive it that soon diminished after the trying process of applying to actual college and the hiatus that persisted thereafter. BUT! It is now back, and it has pictures! Additionally, it tells my story, the girl with a 5.986 GPA, over 75 hours of service, and a Columbia University High School Precollege Program certificate under her belt, who didn’t get in to college (sort of). I surprisingly have liked this –at the time- terrible turn for my story, it makes the blog title all the more appropriate. Every quest needs its adventure.

I also finally caved and put my Epiphone Les Paul 100 up on craiglist. I really need the cash and none of my job apps have received a callback. Then I went to Oceanic, because I hadn’t been there in
awhile and needed some time to think alone[ish] (and Oceanic always makes me happy! :P). Bought a bunch of asian candy and the final piece to my Happy Cat plate set! :D Then went home and found Randi had bought my mom and I Sonic java chillers after I had just ate a box of kiwi pocky, some Melon-flavored Apollo Choco, and drank a bottle of Caplico Strawberry. Sugar High. xD

On Thursday, I had a rather uneventful Chemistry class, went home and spent way too much money on a gypsy/romani ebay store while Randi wallowed about her cavity filling that morning with the most hilarious post-stroke face novocain has yet produced. Then she pointed out to me the package on the table from JBOX, containing my COPIC pen and marker set, mizuame candy, rose gum, a totoro key chain, and a DS game holder.
Soon thereafter, once she regained motion in the right side of her face, we had a go with the water candy (mizuame) which definitely requires teamwork and is way harder than it looks (and it looks difficult)! Then, with new found energy, we both decided to make a rush to Super Target (I had a considerable amount of work to do in math before Friday, if I wanted to go out). FAIL. We were ended up being out for about three hours bc Randi remembered she needed to buy something for Jordan’s mom’s graduation (which, even after three hours, we ended up with nothing for her).
I did end up with 2 new green boxers (bringin’ out me irish quarter) and a feather head band (cuter than it sounds). Then, when we got home, Jordan –HAD TO- come over, so I was stuck chaperoning for another FOUR HOURS (and I really can’t do math when eavesdropping so intensely :P)! So, yea, after her left, I was up until 4 am working on math. :/

On Friday, after about four hours of sleep, I began preparing for the planned Ikea adventure, with Kat, Kayla, Joey, Tommy, and Christy. We didn’t end up going until 2pm, so I had a little nap while I waited, then Randi and I ate Goober PB&J with spoons from straight from the jar and tried to figure out what movie that was from, at first only coming up with the episode of ‘Smart Guy’ with Taj Mowry being forced to eat it in a commercial even though he hated it. :P I ended up arriving at Ikea first; that store is enormous, I felt like I was standing at the entrance to Disney while I waited in front of the big screen display of Wall-E. When everyone arrived we perused through most of the furniture sections, stopping at the sliding curtains and Swedish books, and then finally made it to the kid section where, as Kat reported, it ‘made [her] ovaries explode with the desire to have children just so she could buy all this shit.’ Haha. xD We ended up sticking Thomas in an egg chair and watching Kat and Joey play on a teeter-totter, whilst bickering about the poor choice of voice actors in the upcoming English version of Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea. Then we went to the market section where I tried to buy one of everything made with a berry you couldn’t find in Publix. I ended up with a pack of Lingonberry juice, another of Elderberry juice I remember picking those flowers when I was younger, didn’t know they were edible), gooseberry jam, and a hazelnut chocolate bar (hey, wait! How’d that get in there?! :P). As we left, I gave Kat my Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends DS game as a sort of parting gift, I guess (she had wanted to borrow it when I bought it). We all said or goodbyes then I headed home to get back to my leftover college work and watch The Nanny Diaries on YouTube, having finally remembered where the Goober PB&J scene came from. Ended up staying up until only 3:30am this time and sleeping in until 11am. ☺

So, now it’s Saturday, and Randi is off dog-sitting our neighbors’ pooch, Rambo, and my gypsy-ordering spree package has finally arrived! But now I have Chemistry to do and I really want to go see The Hangover. ;)

///////////////////ADDENDUM\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Elderberry juice is positively delicious.
Gooseberry jam is something quite atrocious.
Lingonberry juice is somewhere in between.
AND my gypsy package contents are LOVELY!

And this came in the mail last Wednesday
(this post really needed a picture, so I got
desperate)
So, l started off last Wednesday with a dentist appointment at 10am. Just the regular cleaning and lecture about how I need to floss harder under the metal bar behind my bottom front teeth and the compliments about how aside from there, my teeth are "remarkably clean." Truth be told, I don't think I've ever flossed outside a dentist's office. I've only ever had two cavities in my near two decades on this earth and they were in impacted molars, so they shouldn't even count, suckas!

ANYWAY! I digress from the main story of this post; the long awaited get-together of the four musketeers...

Randi was at a lake with her beau while we continued plotting our big sushi day (we had been planning another sushi+movie day for about two weeks that we couldn't fit into both of our schedules comfortably) when it clicks with me that this would be the opportune time to invite Jen and Meg along. The four of us had been planning a get together before Meg heads off to Duke for college. Jen had come down from Rhode Island for the summer and Meg&Randi had just graduated and were about to be off.

So, after some texting exchanges, sushi at Yoko's it was, and Star Trek thereafter. Jen and I arrived early and were able to hang out alone for a few minutes, so that was cool. We spent the time talking about looking for summer jobs, the temperature/weather (which went from notably hot to remarkably humid), her asian-food-overload of a week (she said her mother had basically made enough tempura to feed an army AND she had been eating out at a bunch of Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants), comparing iPhone's (mine is first gen, hers is second), Randi's obsession with 'shake' apps for them, and bitchin' about how much we missed good old fashion clicking buttons (I DO!! >:[ And I am not alone in this).

Eventually, we caved and went in for a table to sit down. Randi arrived first with a new tan and smelling like sunscreen. About thirty minutes later, Meagan arrived. Haha. She had to leave her younger sister with her dad and he was late home from work. And so began the reminiscing about Ouija board games, blowup pool castles (and plots to put one in Meg's dorm swimming pool to see which drunk takes advantage of it first), and arguments about the quality of the Twilight series (the table was divided, Randi and Jen on the pro-Twilight side, Meg and I on the other :P).

So after eating enough sushi to fill an aquarium, we made the short trip to Meg's mom's store to find 'Star Trek' showtimes and debate who would be the car pooler. Meg volunteered then insisted. So, off we went to her car where me and Jen verbally noted how reclined the back seat was as we sat (or lied down, rather) in it. "Oh, yeah... it was just cleaned. Long story," Meg replied nonchalantly before explaining to us how we were sitting on her previously cum-covered upholstery we were unknowingly led into. NOT ANYTHING TO DO WITH HER ACTIVITY, MIND YOU! Should have clarified that earlier. Yea, so apparently a now x-friend of hers wanted to "make up" with her boyfriend privately, so Meg let them use her car, not expecting that make-up sex was included.

We should have taken my car. Instead, Jen and I were stuck laying back on the drive to the movies, bc Meg didn't remember how to get back into the right position and we couldn't find any levers. xP

We arrived about forty minutes early to the theater, so we waited on a bench talking about discovery channel shows (the one that's a copy of 'Survivor Man' in particular) iPhone musical apps (which I then vowed to own one of every instrument down to the oboe), candid photos Meg took of one of the narcoleptic Sisters at her now-old school in one of her "sleepy" phases, old xanga accounts, and their new twitter ones. all whilst listening to crunching metal and agonized screaming reverberating out of the theater showing Terminator.

Note about the movie:
Star Trek was as good as everyone says it is! It separates from the old plot, so that it does each series justice. And it stars LEONARD NIMOY! As well as twenty actual stars that appear in the flick for roughly a minute each (like Winona Ryder topped in at maybe 30 seconds... I get the feeling there were a lot of deleted scenes). AND! I didn't know SIMON PEGG (ala Run, Fat Boy, Run! and Shaun of the Dead) was the new Scotty. Sweet surprise. :D
--Fin--

Then we drove back to Yokos and headed home in separate vehicles after some tight (and some awkward in seatbelt) hugs; with Jen Texting me of how much of a "speed demon" Randi is at driving, me texting Meagan about how I managed to accidently steal her mom's umbrella, her texting me back how I should not return it until I had sufficiently tortured Randi with it (Randi has had a few painful mechanical malfunctions occur with button-release umbrellas), and Randi making up for lost time Texting her boyfriend. :P

It's funny how much we've grown and changed over the years, yet our bond remains the same. We're like an unrelated family (for the most part :P)

- loser
